- Usher helped shape the early days and rise of Justin Bieber’s career in the 2010s.
- Justin declined to make an appearance during Usher’s Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2024, though the headliner claimed there was “still love” between them.
- On March 15, J.B. and Usher reportedly got into a “heated exchange” at Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Oscars after party at the Chateau Marmont.
Usher and Justin Bieber might be the next artists to work it out on a remix. According to a recent report from TMZ, the longtime friends and collaborators allegedly got into an altercation while celebrating at Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Oscars after-party at the Chateau Marmont in L.A. on Sunday, March 15.
Sources claim that Usher approached J.B. during the after-party with “energy and anger” before getting into a “heated exchange.” Others noted that it allegedly “ended up as a fist fight between the two.”
It’s unclear what the fight could have been about, and according to TMZ, authorities were not involved at any point.
The “Somebody to Love” collaborators weren’t the only A-listers in attendance, either. According to Entertainment Weekly, Oscar winners Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler celebrated their respective wins for Sinners, while other nominees Teyana Taylor, Timothée Chalamet, Jacob Elordi, and Emma Stone were also there.
Of course, Justin’s wife, Hailey Bieber, was also reportedly there, as well as Kylie Jenner, Austin Butler, Emma Watson, Kendall Jenner, Megan Fox, Kris Jenner, Sofía Vergara, Vin Diesel, Jon Batiste, Jack O’Connell, Chloë Bailey, Vanessa and Natalia Bryant. This is allegedly the same party Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce had snuck into, too.
Usher and Justin go way back, as the “U Got It Bad” hitmaker helped launch J.B.’s career as he rose to fame in the 2010s. When Usher was tapped to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2024, he told The Breakfast Club that he had a “brief conversation” with Justin about a potential onstage reunion.
He shared that the “YUKON” singer had declined because he wanted to “tell a different story” at the time.
“We’re going to do something else in the future, but no love lost or anything like that. I think that it’s a lot of pressure for the Super Bowl, obviously, for me to put together a show, so I reached out to everybody,” Usher shared, adding, “Justin wasn’t the only person I actually spoke to about doing the Super Bowl, but the moment was maybe for later.”
Perhaps they’ll share a moment during Bieberchella if this all blows over? Only time will tell…
